焦點是這樣的一個點—當(dāng)飛機(jī)的攻角發(fā)生變化時,飛機(jī)的氣動力對該點的力矩始終不變,因此它可以理解為飛機(jī)氣動力增量的作用點。焦點的位置是決定飛機(jī)穩(wěn)定性的重要參數(shù)。焦點位于飛機(jī)重心之前則飛機(jī)是不穩(wěn)定的,焦點位于飛機(jī)重心之后則飛機(jī)是穩(wěn)定的。我們知道,當(dāng)飛機(jī)處于平衡狀態(tài)時,作用在飛機(jī)上的所有氣動力的作用點一定與飛機(jī)的中心重合。當(dāng)飛機(jī)受到擾動或其他原因攻角發(fā)生改變,作用在飛機(jī)上的氣動力會發(fā)生變化,不僅是大小的變化,作用點也會發(fā)生變化。這時,我們可以通過力的合成原理,將氣動力分解成兩部分,一部分是飛機(jī)在原來的平衡位置所受到的氣動力,仍然作用于重心;另一部分是氣動力的改變量,作用點就是飛機(jī)的焦點。

如圖,藍(lán)色的點就是飛機(jī)的焦點。飛機(jī)在受到一個使攻角增大的擾動情況下,增加的氣動力就作用在焦點上,如果飛機(jī)的焦點位于重心之后,則氣動力增量將對重心產(chǎn)生一個低頭力矩,使飛機(jī)攻角減小,飛行員即使不加以控制,飛機(jī)仍然能夠回到原來的平衡位置;如果焦點位于重心之前,氣動力增量對重心產(chǎn)生的將是抬頭力矩,使飛機(jī)繼續(xù)抬頭,偏離繼續(xù)擴(kuò)大,如果飛行員不及時加以控制,將導(dǎo)致飛行穩(wěn)定性的喪失直至發(fā)生飛行事故。
